Leonard Fournette Is The Skinniest He’s Been Since High School (TWEET)
That burn may have been a bit harsh. But at least Fournette is putting his money where his mouth is. According to Jeff Duncan of the Times-Picayune, Fournette has shed some pounds this offseason and currently weighs in at 223, which is the smallest he’s been since high school.
Leonard Fournette told me his weight is currently at 223 pounds, the lowest since he played at St. Augustine High School in 2013.

Fournette was officially listed at 6’0″ and 228 lbs for the 2017 NFL season, making him one of just four running backs to measure at least six feet and 225 pounds. However, 228 is what Fournette weighed at the 2017 LSU pro day. He was 240 at the 2017 combine. So it’s likely he was a bit heavier than 228 during the season.
All in all Fournette made a solid NFL debut, finishing 8th in the league in rushing with 1,040 yards. However, he was 30th in the league in yards per attempt. And while no one could question his open-field speed, he clearly lacked some of the agility and elusiveness he showed at LSU.
Obviously, Fournette is hoping he’ll be a little better as a 223-pounder. And so are Jaguars fans. With Blake Bortles at quarterback, the Jags are going to need Fournette to take things to the next level if they want to make it back to the AFC Championship Game and beyond.
