REPORT: Tom Herman Named As Tipster That Led To Urban Meyer & Ohio State Investigation

The 2018 college football season just got even wilder.

Back in July, Ohio State made the decision to put head coach Urban Meyer on administrative leave as the school investigates if he knew about domestic violence allegations against assistant coach Zach Smith a few years back.

Ex-ESPN reporter Brett Murphy inexplicably was the one who broke the story on his personal Facebook page:

“Text messages I have obtained, an exclusive interview with the victim and other information I have learned shows Ohio State coach Urban Meyer knew in 2015 of domestic abuse allegations against a member of his coaching staff.

Courtney Smith, ex-wife of fired Ohio State assistant coach Zach Smith, provided text messages between her and the wives of Ohio State coaches – including Urban Meyer’s wife, Shelley – showing Meyer’s knowledge of the situation.”

On Saturday, even more juicy details emerged on the scandal after Ohio State insider Jeff Snook revealed that he has confirmed that Texas coach Tom Herman was McMurphy’s source:

According to his report, Herman was not only the tipster, but the one who encouraged Courtney Smith to come forward with abuse allegations as some ploy of revenge after the Texas Longhorns missed out on 5-star recruit to Ohio State.

Herman served on Meyer’s staff at Ohio State before landing the Houston job in 2015 and moving on to Texas in 2017.
