Matt Barnes Asks Judge To Decrease His $20K/Month Child Support Since He Has Full Custody Of His Kids

Matt Barnes has been at war with his ex-wife Gloria Govan for years, most notably since Barnes infamously left practice and drove a ridiculous amount of miles to confront Derek Fisher who had been seeing his estrange wife behind his back.

The former NBA player had recently received full custody of nine-year-old twin boys and is now looking to lower his child support payments.

Via The Blast:

“In new documents obtained by The Blast, Barnes says since his custody of his children has increased to full custody, amid his ongoing dispute with Govan, he believes his support payments should be lowered as well.

Barnes says he’s currently paying $20,000 a month and is covering the cost of the boys’ private school tuition.

Although Barnes hasn’t played in the NBA since 2017, he’s still making about $161,000 a month from his last NBA contract, but he says Govan hasn’t worked since her appearance on “Basketball Wives” in 2011. As a result, he’s asking a judge to determine what Govan could be making if she gets a job and factor that into his decrease.”

The two are set to meet in court next week.

Earlier this year, Govan filed a lawsuit against Matt Barnes, claiming his social media comments have drastically hurt her reputation. As a result, Govan claims she is unable to earn a decent income.
