Denver Broncos Propose AAF “Onside Conversion” Rule To The NFL (VIDEO)

The future of the NFL can be very different a few years from now, if not the 2019 season, if the Denver Broncos have anything to say about it.

NFL teams have proposed a total of nine rule changes in the offseason, and the Denver Broncos have suggested the league borrow the Alliance of American Football’s revision of onside kickoffs.

In the AAF, they have a rule that allows teams the chance to go for an onside conversion where if a team is down by 17 or more points, or trailing with five or fewer minutes left in the game, they can attempt an onside conversion following a touchdown with a 4th-and-12 play from their 28-yard line.

Much like this:

Traditional onside kicks are fun plays, but are rare to be converted, especially with the new rules as players aren’t allowed to move until the kicker kicks the ball away.

A change is definitely needed.
