Poll Reveals Megan Rapinoe Would Defeat Donald Trump In 2020 Election
Soccer star Megan Rapinoe became an even bigger household name when she stated back in June that “I’m not going to the f—ing White House,” when asked whether she and the U.S. women’s national soccer team would accept an invitation from Trump to go to the White House. “No, I’m not going to the White House. We’re not going to be invited … I doubt it.”
Rapinoe, who led the United States to its record fourth Women’s World Cup victory over the weekend, just might like her chances if she decides to go head-to-head with President Donald Trump if she wants to go for the highest office in the country.
Public Policy Polling, a Democratic firm, revealed that the 34-year-old would beat the 45th president of the United States in a race, saying, “We found that Rapinoe gets 42 percent to 41 percent for Trump.”
“In addition to having a slight edge over Trump already, Rapinoe has a lot more room for growth. The voters who are undecided in the Rapinoe/Trump head to head voted for Hillary Clinton by 58 points and just 8% of them approve of the job Trump is doing to 82% who disapprove. They’re likely undecided either because they’re not familiar with Rapinoe or aren’t sure about her as a Presidential candidate, but given their past voting history and feelings about Trump, it seems unlikely they’ll end up in his camp.”
The firm added that Rapinoe’s advantage could certainly increase over time.
Because of her spectacular performance at the Women’s World Cup in France, Rapinoe took home the Golden Boot and Golden Ball.
On Monday, the 34-year-old reiterated her stance to not go to the White House and would accept Senate Minority Leader Chuck Schumer’s invitation to come to Capitol Hill to celebrate their victory all while having a discussion about equal pay.
