Andrea Lee thinks she has a good chance to put herself at the top of list as a contender to challenge UFC women’s flyweight champion Valentina Shevchenko with a win at UFC 242.

With her even stepping in the Octagon, she is already set to make history as one of the first women to feature on a UFC card in Abu Dhabi.

Lee, who has a record of 11-2 in professional MMA, rides a seven-fight winning streak into her matchup with Joanne Calderwood.

“For sure, we’re making history and I’m honored I was one of the females that was chosen to come out here to make history and fight here in Abu Dhabi,” Lee told MMA Fighting at the recent media day.

“It is definitely groundbreaking. It just shows that women’s MMA is exploding and we’re finally getting the respect we deserve and I’m happy to be a part of it…Being able to fight on a Khabib and Dustin Poirier card its unbelievable you know. I’m very excited about that alone.”

First thank you to @montana.delarosa for a great fight and it was an honor to share the octagon with you. I hope we can still Continue to be friends, I really admire you and your family and I hope that you are doing ok. I also would like to thank everyone who has helped me inside and outside of the octagon, helping me to continue to grow and believe in myself, it truly means so much to me. Quitting has never been an option, I love this crazy dream I get to call a career. This past year has not been the easiest, but I’m lucky I have so many friends and family who believe in me and give me reason to push forward day in and day out, Ainslee being the number one reason I will never quit and will never back down. Yes I have problems in my life, my life is far from perfect, but I choose to do my best to stay focused and not stray from my goals in life. I refuse to break. I know this was not my greatest performance, but I also know I’m better than that. @timcredeur @jim_west_gold @coach_burton318 @coach1doug #davehirschbein #gangsterdave @ultimatefitnessfood @thorneresearch @trifectasystem @ufc @andythecrasian1 @tonykelleymma @chaseduggins @victorybeefllc @iowabison @lanaseggwhites @cassie.lindsaylee @chesmom7 @sandman_sands #ndwa #northdesoto #northdesotowrestlingacademy @sandman_sands
