Cam Newton Sounded Like A Man Who Was Ready To Follow Andrew Luck & Call It Quits After TNF Game

Just four years ago, Cam Newton was easily one of the best quarterbacks in the entire league. That does not remain the same in 2019.

The Carolina Panthers star quarterback has opened the season with two straight poor performances, and seems to be feeling the lingering effects of offseason shoulder surgery.

Not only is his accuracy way off and he’s not throwing downfield, the once dynamic QB has seemingly given up on running the football anymore.

Through two games, he has five carries for a loss of two yards, and he wasn’t even called on to run the ball when the Panthers only needed one yard for a first down late in Thursday night’s loss to the Buccaneers.

During the postgame, Newton sounded like a man who was next up to follow Andrew Luck and retire from the game.

Newton has been taking punishing hits to his body since his days at Auburn and he might finally be breaking down and wanting to call it a career.

The reality is Newton has had two shoulder surgeries in his past, ankle surgery, broken bones in his back, a couple head injuries, broken ribs, plus a foot sprain suffered just three weeks ago.

The Superman we once knew may be no more.
