New Orleans Saints fans are steaming hot after their loss to the 49ers, but they really shouldn’t be and this article will explain why.
The New Orleans Saints seemed to be on the wrong end of another egregious pass interference no-call against the 49ers , but as it turned out, the refs were actually correct in not throwing their flag.
The 49ers actually took full advantage of a rule that not many fans know about.
Late in the 3rd, the Saints lined up in a punt formation and called a fake with Taysom Hill attempting a pass to Tre’Quan Smith.
Tarvarius Moore clearly committed pass interference on the play, but not a single flag was thrown. Saints fans were upset.
According to NFL rules, when the offense lines up in a punting formation, defensive pass interference cannot be called. That rule pretty much stops teams from trying to run fake punts all the time with the hopes of trying to draw an easy pass interference call.
