If Bill O’Brien is trying his best to destroy the Houston Texans franchise, he’s doing it willingly and without anybody checking him for it.
That was evident on Monday when the Texans head coach and GM suddenly traded top-3 WR in the league DeAndre Hopkins to the Arizona Cardinals for running back David Johnson. Not only that, the Texans would be taking on all of Johnson’s salary.
Social media exploded and laughed at Bill O’Brien for even paying any attention to this trade.
People online weren’t the only ones laughing.
An anonymous NFC head coach said he was in the midst of his coaches’ meeting when the news came down and the entire room burst into laughter.
O’Brien has been with the Texans since 2014 and has delivered four playoff appearances. That actually makes him the most accomplished head coach in Texans history, but his personnel and head coaching decision on the field continue to remain sub-par.
Trading Hopkins away for close to nothing is just the latest easily the worst decision he has ever made.
