Aleksandar Katai, a player for the Los Angeles Galaxy soccer team, was forced to apologize after his wife made some disturbing social media comments.
Tea Katai called for Black Lives Matter protesters to be killed and she referred to them as “disgusting cattle.”
“These views are not ones that I share and are not tolerated in my family.”
“I strongly condemn white supremacy, racism and violence towards people of color. Black lives matter. This is a mistake from my family and I take full responsibility.”
“I will ensure that my family and I take the necessary actions to learn, understand, listen and support the black community.”

The team also released a statement:
48 hours after releasing their statement, the team decided to part ways with Aleksandar Katai due to his wife’s “racist and violent” words.
“The LA Galaxy stands firmly against racism of any kind, including that which suggests violence or seeks to demean the efforts of those in pursuit of racial equality,” the team said. “The LA Galaxy stand with communities of color, and especially the Black community, in the protests and fight against systemic racism, social inequality, bigotry and violence.”
Katai was in his first season with the Galaxy and had appeared in two games this season. He previously spent two years with the Chicago Fire, playing in 62 games from 2018-19 with 18 goals and 12 assists.
