Tennis Star Naomi Osaka Eviscerates The NFL, ‘Give Colin His Job Back!’

In 2016, NFL star Colin Kaepernick initiated a protest where he started kneeling during the National Anthem to bring awareness to police brutality and social injustices towards minorities.

He was basically blackballed from the league ever since that year with the 49ers ended.

Now, with the unarmed black man George Floyd losing his life in police custody, it has ignited worldwide protests and leading to Black Lives Matter (BLM) campaign.

The Japanese tennis ace Naomi Osaka vocalized about racism, and she is using her platform to call out the NFL.

“Colin has been putting this message out since 2016. It took a pandemic, an economic crisis, and a torturous murder on camera, all at the same time, for people to really hear him,” Osaka spoke to Reuters in conversation via email.

“I’m vocal because I believe in the movement and want to try to use my platform to facilitate change,” Osaka said.

“It shouldn’t have been that way. If the NFL wants to show that they really care the first thing they should do is take a knee together and give Colin his job back. That some people have said we as athletes should stick to sports is really insulting.”

As far as Kaepernick goes, Seattle Seahawks head coach Pete Carroll revealed on Thursday that a team actually called him and inquired about the former 49ers QB.

“Someone is interested,” Carroll said.
