Gerald McCoy is on his third team in as many seasons, and his future with his new employer has started off terribly.
McCoy suffered an apparent leg injury during Dallas Cowboys practice Monday, NFL Network Insider Ian Rapoport reported.
The injury reportedly happened during individual drills as he needed to be helped off field.
The news only got worse as the team fears he has torn his ACL.
The defensive tackle stayed in the NFC South last season by signing with the Carolina Panthers, recording 37 tackles and five sacks in his lone season in Charlotte.
Coach Mike McCarthy spoke before Monday’s practice about McCoy.
“He’s a perennial Pro Bowler, and he looks great. Can’t say enough about the shape he’s in and just the energy that he brings to our defensive front,” McCarthy said. “… He’s a great fit for us. We look for him to be a force inside.”
The 32-year-old McCoy signed a three-year deal with the Cowboys this offseason.
