Colin Kaepernick’s name is once again coming up after a starting QB went down for the season.

On Sunday, rookie quarterback Joe Burrow suffered a torn ACL during a play against the Washington Football Team. The former first overall pick had to be carted off the field and saw his first season with the Cincinnati Bengals come to an end as a resut.

Fans responded with well wishes, while others proclaimed that the Bengals need to sign a free-agent option to lead the team for the remainder of the season.

Mike Florio of Pro Football Talk spoke on the possibility of the Bengals contacting Kaepernick.

“Then there’s Colin Kaepernick,” wrote Mike Florio of Pro Football Talk. “Remember him? He’s the guy who was shunned by the NFL as of 2017. He’s the guy who raised concerns about police interactions with minority men and women. He’s the guy who many realized had been vindicated after the public execution of George Floyd.”

“Kaepernick won’t be contacted,” he continued.

“Kaepernick won’t be offered a chance to work out for the Bengals. Kaepernick won’t be offered a contract for the minimum salary for the balance of the year. It just won’t happen. The ship has sailed. The lights are out. The party is over. The book is closed. Many other cliches could be used to convey the idea that it’s just done.”

Even still, the fan base wants it to happen:
