Mike McCarthy Explains Why He Didn’t Challenge Crucial Catch That Gifted Giants Three Points (VIDEO)
One look at a video replay made it obvious Giants receiver Dante Pettis did not catch a third-down pass midway through the fourth quarter.
Mike McCarthy did not think so, so he let the play go on and the Giants would go on to kick a 50-yard field goal and take a 4-point lead.
After the game, McCarthy was asked why he kept the red flag in his pocket.
“Just felt it was too close,” McCarthy said. “Felt it was a bang-bang situation and the fact of the matter is we were in a tight game and the three timeouts was obviously of high value there. We just didn’t think there was enough information to overturn it.”
Down four, Dallas was forced to drive down the field for a touchdown instead of a field goal. Andy Dalton would throw an interception and the Cowboys would finish the season 6-10.
