If Philip Rivers does hang up his cleats after this season, he will most certainly have some jobs looking for his services.
If the Indianapolis Colts miss the playoffs, Rivers is expected to immediately become the top free agent available on a different market should he retire. Michael McCarthy of Front Office Sports reports that Rivers is a hot commodity among television networks, with many executives viewing him as the “next Tony Romo.”
Rivers’ addressed his career possibly coming to an end in Week 17.
“It did cross my mind,” Rivers said. “If things don’t go the way you want this weekend, it could be… I guess it’s healthy to have that thought because we’re not guaranteed anything going forward.”
When he has been mic’d up, Rivers has been absolute gold with the things coming out of his mouth.
McCarthy is reporting that Fox Sports needs a No. 2 TV team behind Troy Aikman and Joe Buck, but they won’t be the only company interested in signing him.
