REPORT: Eagles & Colts Have Discussed A Carson Wentz Trade
Ever since reports came out that Carson Wentz was demanding a trade over being benched and the franchise seemingly moving forward with Jalen Hurts as the starter, there has been one front-runner in the sweepstakes to obtain him.
The Philadelphia Eagles have discussed a potential deal for the quarterback with the Indianapolis Colts, NFL Network’s Mike Garafolo said on SportsRadio 94WIP.
“I do know that the Eagles have had conversations with the Indianapolis Colts already”, Garafolo said. “Here is the thing about the Colts, and this is why they were never strongly in the running for Matthew Stafford: These guys are really good at what they do draft-wise. They believe in themselves. … So what they do is, they are a little slow playing when it comes to these draft picks and trades.”
Teams have made “aggressive offers,” according to ESPN’s Tim McManus.
Garofolo added that the New England Patriots, New Orleans Saints, and Carolina Panthers are potential destinations for Wentz.
If the Eagles do follow through with moving Carson Wentz, they will take a $34-million dead cap hit, but an agreement with another team could also save the franchise from paying him an additional $25 million this upcoming season.
