Houston Texans Have Made Call To Eagles About Potential Carson Wentz Trade
Could the Houston Texans be looking to bring in Carson Wentz amid drama with their own QB in Deshaun Watson?
NFL insider Benjamin Allbright reports that not only have the San Francisco 49ers reached out to the Philadelphia Eagles about Carson Wentz, but so have the Houston Texans.
Allbright called the Texans interest in Wentz a ‘surpirse,’ mainly because the Texans have stated publicly that they have no intention of trading Deshaun Watson.
Watson has no desire to play another snap for Houston.
“Basically 2 or 3 teams in it, but not at Eagle’s price point,” wrote Allbright via Twitter. “Leaks on ‘compensation’ coming from the Philly side, because they’re trying to get teams involved and drive the price up.”
The Eagles drafted Wentz out of North Dakota State with the No. 2 overall pick in 2016, and although he was important in their Super Bowl team, he found himself being benched last season in favor of rookie QB Jalen Hurts. He would soon demand a trade if the team was deciding to move forward with Hurts as the starter.
The 28-year-old has completed 62.7 percent of his passes for 16,811 yards with 113 touchdowns and 50 interceptions through his five NFL seasons.
