Phillip Adams, a former NFL cornerback who played six seasons in the league with six different teams, was identified as the gunman who killed five people in South Carolina before turning the gun on himself.
The shooting took place in Rock Hill, South Carolina.
During his career, Adams suffered multiple injuries, including concussions and a broken ankle.
Alonzo Adams, who is the father of the ex-defensive back, said he wasn’t aware of his son ever being violent before he allegedly opened fire at a home in Rock Hill.
“I can say he’s a good kid — he was a good kid, and I think the football messed him up,” Alonzo Adams told WCNC-TV. “He didn’t talk much and he didn’t bother nobody.”
Those comments led people to thinking he might’ve suffered from CTE, which can’t be detected until a person is deceased.
