Incredibly Ripped Chilean Basketball Player Sammis Reyes Signs With Washington Football Team (PICS)
The Washington Football Team made some noise on Tuesday when they signed Sammis Reyes, who played basketball at Tulane for two seasons.
The 25-year-old Chilean has been on the radar of various NFL teams through the league’s International Player Pathway Program.
Reyes said to the Sun Sentinel’s Adam Lichtenstein in January that his original dream was to play in the NBA but those around him had insisted for years that he give football a try.
He practiced with the football team for one week in high school and found “the game came so naturally to me.”
“Then they put me at tight end,” he said. “I was always great with my hands, coming from basketball. I was taller than everybody, especially in high school. I just did great.
“But after a week, I was like, ‘You know what? I’ve got 20-plus Division I offers to play basketball. If I get hurt before my senior year, before my senior season in high school for basketball, these schools will drop me.’”
Reyes is 6-foot-5, 260 pounds and has a 4.64-second 40-yard dash, 40-inch vertical jump, 10-foot-5-inch broad jump and 31 bench press reps. He is considered the most-athletic size-adjusted tight end to ever enter the NFL.
