Manny Machado has gained a reputation throughout baseball as one of the sport’s dirtier players, and he proved it yet again last night.
The 28-year-old did nothing to change that narrative Sunday night when he purposely initiated contact with Cardinals second baseman Tommy Edman where he slid into him for no apparent reason.
Social media proceeded to blast him for a play that could’ve seriously injured his opponent:
While playing for the Dodgers in 2018, Machado clipped then-Brewers first baseman Jesus Aguilar while running out a ground ball, which prompted MLB to fine him an undisclosed amount.
Just the year before that, he had a controversial play when he injured Dustin Pedroia at second base.
