UC Davis Suspends Entire Baseball Program After “Allegations Of Misconduct”
Something bad has happened within th UC Davis baseball program, and it has resulted in the suspension of the entire program. Not just a few players, or a coach or two, but the ENTIRE TEAM…Coaches too!
According to a statement released by the school, the University’s Office of Compliance and Policy are conducting an investigation into the allegations, which could take months.
Here’s their entire statement, which was released on Wednesday:
The safety of students is of utmost importance to UC Davis. The university has learned of allegations of misconduct involving the varsity baseball team. The UC Davis Office of Compliance and Policy is investigating these allegations, and the entire baseball program has been placed on suspension pending the outcome of this review. In addition, the baseball coaching staff has been placed on administrative leave.
The review is expected to last for the first couple months of the fall quarter. At this time, it is too early to know definitively when team activities, including practice, may start. There will be updates as more information is available.
We are committed to conducting a thorough assessment to determine the best path forward to provide a safe and inclusive experience for all team members.
The UD Davis Aggies finished in last place in the Big West Conference last season with an 8-32 record within the conference, and a 14-43 record overall. No further details have been provided regarding the actions that led to these allegations that were serious enough to shut down the entire program.
