On Wednesday, the Minnesota Vikings issued a statement in response to disturbing text messages and a video posted by defensive lineman Everson Griffen on Instagram.
“Vikings representatives and the team’s mental healthy professionals have been on-site at Everson Griffen’s home since early this morning and are cooperating with law enforcement,” the team said in a statement. “Our only concern at this time is the safety and well-being of Everson and his family. We will have further comment at the appropriate time.”
The DE posted multiple concerning messages this morning, including screengrabs of texts with his agent in which he said that someone was trying to kill him. Everybody was hoping for a good outcome, but Junior Galette took it another route.
The former NFL player posted a picture of Griffen with his wife and family as well as Antonio Brown with his family and noted that both of them get the full benefits of White men, because who they chose to have kids with were White women.
“You get almost all of the Benefits that the white guys get for having a white wife as a Black man in the NFL
just go check out Antonio brown and Everson Griffen track record ….you can’t make this shit up”
“I’m racist ? Lol who can I keep out of a job? I have no power to be racist now Jon Gruden Dan Snyder Bruce Allen those guys have the power and are racist or these NFL owners. No Black man on this Planet can Be Racist prejudice yes…RACIST ? No besides my best friend was white”
Griffen also posted a video in which he said that people were trying to “pop [him],” and displayed a weapon.
“I still got clips left,” he says in the video. “This is my gun … registered to me, I bought all my bullets around town, Dalvin Cook helped me purchase this gun. It all belongs to me.”
A copy of the police report, obtained by ESPN, said police had been at his home in Minnetrista, which he has refused to come out of.
