Kelly Stafford has had enough.
Immediately after Matthew Stafford and the Los Angeles Rams won Super Bowl LVI on Sunday, the talk about Stafford shifted from “Can he win the big game?” to “Is he a Hall-of-Famer?”
The opinions on that are all over the place, but their were a few prominent figures making their case for Stafford not getting a gold jacket.
For that, Kelly Stafford had a message for those people:
“Can yall just let him enjoy this?! It went from Matthew can’t win, to Matthew can’t win against winning teams, to Matthew can’t win big games, to Matthew can’t win playoff games, to Matthew can’t win it all. And now…the debate on the HOF? We shouldn’t be talking about the HOF because he isn’t done playing this game. If you don’t believe he is a HOFer…I can’t wait for him to prove you wrong in his remaining years!”
Stafford completed 26 of 40 passes for 283 yards with three touchdowns and two interceptions during the Rams’ 23-20 win over the Bengals in Super Bowl LVI on Sunday. He also rushed three times for six yards.
The veteran signal-caller culminated his first season outside of the football purgatory known as Detroit with a thrilling game-winning drive to secure a Super Bowl championship and finally change the narrative surrounding him and his career.
Stafford finished the regular season with his highest passing yardage total (4,886) since the 2012 season and a career-high-tying 41 touchdown passes.
