The first thing many people wondered once they heard about the blockbuster trade that sent Davante Adams to the Raiders for a package of 2022 draft picks was, “I wonder what Aaron Rodgers is going to think about this?”
And it was a valid question. After all, Rodgers had just re-signed with the Packers for at least another season. You’d think he only would have done so had he known Adams would still be around as well…
Turns out that couldn’t be further from the truth.
According to reports that have since come out, Rodgers was fully aware of the Davante Adams situation, and he knew that the star wideout wouldn’t play another game in Green Bay even before he signed his extension with the Packers.
It has also been reported that Rodgers knew about the trade talks that were taking place in recent days between the Packers and Raiders.
Pelissero adds that it looked like the deal was dead yesterday, but it was suddenly revived today and the two sides came to an agreement.
Derek Carr now gets another much-needed weapon alongside Darren Waller and Hunter Renfrow, allowing the Raiders to keep pace with blockbuster moves made by the division rival Broncos and Chargers. Meanwhile, Aaron Rodgers loses yet another one of his weapons, leaving him with…checks notes…Randall Cobb as his best wideout at the moment?
