Du’Vonta Lampkin, a former defensive lineman for the Oklahoma Sooners, was found dead earlier this month after he was shot.
Police say that found the 25-year-old lying on his back with a single gunshot wound at a rented residence, having been called there after receiving a report that he had stopped answering his phone. Medical personnel showed up to the scene, but he died on the scene.
Dallas Police have now released video below of two men who are persons of interest in the murder.
Per reports, Lampkin’s backpack, cellphone, and wallet were missing.
The Oklahoma football team released a statement after his death.
“The OU Football family is deeply saddened by the tragic passing of former player Du’Vonta Lampkin,” the team tweeted. “Du’Vonta was full of life and spirit, was a supportive teammate and a joy to be around. Our sincerest thoughts, prayers and sympathies are with his family and loved ones.”
Lampkin played defensive tackle for Oklahoma from 2015-17. He left school early after his redshirt sophomore year but was not selected in the 2018 NFL Draft. He signed with the Titans that summer and was waived before the regular season.
