How did nobody catch this when it happened?
The Tampa Bay Buccaneers and New Orleans Saints had quite the battle on Sunday.
New Orleans Saints cornerback Marshon Lattimore and Tampa Bay Buccaneers wide receiver Mike Evans were ejected from the game for fighting. Both players (who have a long history with one another) were in the center of a bench-clearing brawl that occurred in the fourth quarter of a game at the Caesars Superdome.
However, there was another incident during the game that went largely unnoticed.
Bucs CB Carlton Davis threw a punch after a Saints TD and nothing happened to him.
If the refs had noticed this, you’d have to think they would have flagged and ejected Davis immediately. They didn’t, and Davis went on to record nine tackles and a pass defense during a 20-10 victory for Tampa.
The NFL likely won’t overlook this punch though. Don’t be surprised of Davis is fined by the league.
As for the game itself, the win was a big one for the Bucs, as it gives them sole possession of first place in the NFC South. It’s still early, but this win could play a big role in who wins the division at the end of the season.
