Canelo Alvarez and Billy Joe Saunders fought in front of 65,000-plus fans at AT&T Stadium — home of the NFL’s Dallas Cowboys — in Arlington, Texas.
Alvarez, who owns the WBC and WBA belts, and Saunders, the WBO champion, were scheduled to fight in 2020, but the coronavirus pandemic forced the fight to be delayed. With three of the four major super middleweight world titles on the line, both fighters put on a show.
It was a great battle between both fighters:
The world pretty much had Alvarez in this matchup and although Saunders put up a great battle, the fight would be stopped in the 8th round after Billy Joe wouldn’t come out of corner.
Official ruling is a corner stoppage. Canelo wins via TKO, 3:00 8th round.
