In life, things can go haywire in a jiffy, and Julio Cesar Chavez Jr. is experiencing it firsthand. Just days back, Chavez Jr. was in California, soaking in all the limelight from his fight against Jake Paul. Cut to recent day, the former WBC Middleweight champion is now in serious trouble. As per recent updates, the well-known boxer has been arrested. And his wife, Frida Munoz, might have something to do with it!
The boxer has been alleged to have entered the US illegally. Now, Chavez Jr. will reportedly be deported to Mexico, where further investigation awaits. In fact, Chavez Jr. is facing a host of charges in Mexico. This includes accounts of organized crime charges, too. Coming to his recent arrest, the boxer was held at immigration owing to an expired visa. He entered the US back in August 2023. However, despite his visa being expired in February 2024, Chavez Jr. continued to overstay.
This is where his wife comes into play. After his marriage to US citizen Frida Munoz, Chavez Jr. applied for US citizenship. Unfortunately, his plea was rejected. According to the Department of Homeland Security, Munoz is related to the Sinaloa Cartel. Incidentally, Munoz was previously in a relationship with the late son of Joaquin El Chapo Guzman.
