A lottery winner who scored a massive $65 million haul could lose it all following an unthinkable mistake.
The lucky ticket holder, who is in Australia, won the aforementioned sum, which totals AUD$100 million, at the Powerball jackpot last week. For some unknown reason, they haven’t shown up to claim the cash.
The winning ticket came from the Bondi Junction Newsagency & Internet Cafe, with the telling numbers as follows: 28, 10, 3, 16, 31, 14, and 21.
A Powerball of 6 was also drawn.
Given that the buyer did not register his or her ticket, the cafe has no way of contacting them.

“It’s the question many Aussies have been asking during the past seven days: who won last week’s $100 million Powerball prize, and do they know they’ve won?” McIntyre asked.
She added:
“By registering your in-store or online lottery entry to The Lott Members Club, not only are we able to contact you straight after the draw if you win big, but your prize is secure. Even if you happen to lose or damage your winning ticket, if it is registered to you, we could still unite you with your prize, providing the ultimate peace of mind.”
McIntyre also urged ticket buyers to join the club, which they could do for free, to ensure that they’re informed if they win a huge sum.
“Joining is easy and free – simply ask your retailer when you’re next in-store or register online or via The Lott app,” she said.
Not stepping forward to claim such a whopping amount is indeed bizarre, which leaves us wondering whether the winner is gravely injured or worse. Let’s hope that it’s simply a case of them not knowing they won.
On the bright side, players in New South Wales have up to six years to claim their winnings, so there’s time yet.
