Air India has confirmed how much it will compensate the families of the 242 victims on board today’s fatal plane crash.
More than 200 people were on board the flight to London Gatwick when it crashed shortly after take-off.
The Tata Group, which bought the airline three years ago, has been trying to improve operations at a time of great change in India’s aviation market. The carrier’s previous fatal accident, before the one on Thursday, was in August 2020.
The airline was owned by the Indian government from 1953 until 2022. They finally found a buyer in the Tata Group, which is India’s most prestigious business conglomerate.
Now, they are facing one of the worst tragedies that has ever happened, and it’s going to cost them big time.
Tata Sons will offer around £86,000 – or 10 million rupees – to the families of those who were killed after the Boeing 787 plane destined for London.
Now, the Tata Group, which owns Air India, has released a statement credited to Natarajan Chandrasekaran, the company’s chairman.
