Andrew and Tristan Tate are now facing more legal heat- this time from federal prosecutors in the United States. According to newly filed legal documents, the controversial social media personalities are under investigation by the U.S. Attorney’s Office for the Southern District of New York.
The revelation came through court filings in their ongoing $5 million defamation lawsuit in Palm Beach County, Florida. The Tates filed the suit last year, targeting an unnamed woman and three others. They claim the defendants’ allegations led to their criminal prosecution in Romania, where the brothers currently face serious charges, including human trafficking.
Ongoing Federal Scrutiny

In the latest twist, Danielle Pinter, an attorney for one of the defendants, filed a motion requesting that certain materials in the Florida case remain sealed. She cited an active federal investigation, writing that the documents should be kept confidential “until the United States federal investigation and/or prosecution by the Department of Justice for the Southern District of New York of Andrew and Tristan Tate has concluded.”
Joseph McBride, the Tates’ attorney, dismissed the development. Speaking to TMZ, he called it a “pathetic delay tactic by a group of weak lawyers running from a fight.” He added, “The SDNY is subject to Washington. Washington is not involved. We are not worried. Nothing changes. Our march to victory continues.”
This new revelation adds to a growing list of legal troubles for the Tate brothers in the U.S. Andrew is currently under investigation in Beverly Hills, where his ex-girlfriend Bri Stern recently filed a police report alleging sexual assault. She has also launched a civil lawsuit against him. Meanwhile, Florida Governor Ron DeSantis publicly declared that the Tates are not welcome in the state, where a separate probe is ongoing.
Despite the mounting investigations, the brothers remain active on their podcast “Tate Speech,” where they continue to push their controversial and misogynistic views. The U.S. authorities have not filed any charges so far, and Andrew and Tristan Tate continue to maintain their innocence.
