One person is known to have survived the tragic June 12 Air India plane crash that claimed over 200 lives after taking off for London but going down in a residential area near Ahmedabad’s Sardar Vallabhbhai Patel International Airport.
Ahmedabad Police Commissioner GS Malik initially claimed that there were no known survivors, but it has since been reported that there was at least one.
Vishwash Kumar Ramesh, a British citizen visiting family in India, was treated for multiple injuries after the crash. He had been sitting close to the front of the plane in seat 11A.
According to Dr. Dhaval Gameti, Ramesh “was disoriented with multiple injuries all over his body.”
Ramesh said the trouble started just 30 seconds after takeoff.
“Thirty seconds after takeoff, there was a loud noise, and then the plane crashed. It all happened so quickly,” he said in quotes from the Hindustan Times (H/T CBS).
