United States President Donald Trump’s lock screen is going viral this week following photos of it surfacing on social media.
The POTUS is always at the center of controversy for one reason or another, with his personal cell phone now a topic of discussion, given that his lock screen has been exposed online.
Trump had his iPhone in his right hand while disembarking Air Force One over the weekend, and folks noticed his lock screen was a photo of himself.
The image is one of Trump making his famous finger-pointing gesture, which has somehow become an avenue for criticism.
“Trump’s lock screen was spotted on his phone last night—and it was a photo of himself. Is that not one of the most narcissistic, self-absorbed things you’ve ever seen??? Not his family, not his kids, but himself,” social media influencer Harry Sisson wrote on X.

MSNBC’s Victor Brand has also written an entire column because of Trump’s lock screen choice.
“The online commentariat has leaned naturally into armchair psychology, citing this bit of photo curation as yet more evidence of Trump’s narcissism. Trump has, after all, five children and 11 grandchildren, and his current wife is a former model — any of whom might be featured in that slot by the family patriarch. Perhaps. But we can unpack this picture just a little more,” he wrote.
“Demonstrating an uncharacteristic consistency, the background image on the phone appears to be the same lock screen picture from at least 2023, when, Gizmodo notes, it was spotted in a video of Trump in a golf cart. When the lock screen resurfaced in 2024, Gizmodo dug into the background (so to speak) of this particular photo, dating it to July 19, 2019, ‘from the height of Trump’s family separation policy for migrants, which forcibly separated children from their parents at the border.’ So perhaps the president is just sentimental.”
While folks often use photos of their loved ones for their lock screens, it’s also perfectly normal for an owner to use a selfie or another snap of themself.
Maybe there were better choices, perhaps one showing him telling off the Ukrainian President, or one of him doing his quirky dance? But as far as narcissism goes, there are far better reasons to accuse Donald Trump of being one.
