Former President Joe Biden has the entire world in shock.
A Biden spokesperson announced May 18 that the former president has prostate cancer that has spread to his bones. The 82-year-old was diagnosed on May 16 after “experiencing urinary symptoms,” and a “nodule” was discovered on his prostate, according to the statement.
Since his diagnosis, messages of support have poured in for Biden from across the political spectrum.
It took some time, but Joe Biden would eventually break his silence.
Biden has issued his first public message since it was revealed on Sunday that he has been diagnosed with an aggressive form of prostate cancer.
“Cancer touches us all. Like so many of you, Jill and I have learned that we are strongest in the broken places,” Biden posted on social media May 19.
His post included a smiling picture of Biden with his wife, Jill Biden, and a cat.

Biden, who served as president from 2021 to 2025, abruptly ended his reelection bid in 2024. This came weeks after a halting performance during a debate against then-Republican presidential candidate Donald Trump.

Former President Joe Biden is battling an “aggressive” form of prostate cancer, his office announced on Sunday.
Biden and his family are meeting with doctors and considering “multiple treatment options,” including hormone treatment.
President Trump was one of many who weighed in on the diagnosis.
“Melania and I are saddened to hear about Joe Biden’s recent medical diagnosis. We extend our warmest and best wishes to Jill and the family, and we wish Joe a fast and successful recovery,” he wrote on Truth Social.
