The news continues to get worse on the helicopter crash that landed in the Hudson River.
A New York City sightseeing chopper broke apart in midair Thursday and crashed upside-down into the Hudson River, killing the pilot and a family of five Spanish tourists.
Inside that doomed plane were three children and their parents who were here to celebrate.
Agustin Escobar, his wife, Merce Camprubi Montal, and their three children—ages 4, 5, and 11—were in New York City to celebrate the birthday of one of their three young children.
The family had just arrived in the Big Apple from Barcelona, Spain, the day before. They could all be seen having their picture taken and smiling as they got ready to get inside the Bell 206L-4 LongRanger IV helicopter.
After touching down in the city, the family decided to spend their first day touring Manhattan by taking a scenic trip overlooking the Statue of Liberty, per the New York Post.
Not long after the group ascended, the pilot radioed base to warn that they were running out of fuel.
