An Air India flight returned to Hong Kong on Monday shortly after takeoff. It appears that the pilots were spooked by what happened last week.
The traffic control monitoring website LiveATC.net posted an audio of the conversation between the pilot and Air Traffic Control (ATC).
According to the audio clip, the pilot told the ATC that, “For technical reasons, sir, we would like to stay closer to Hong Kong. Maybe we will come back to Hong Kong and sort out the problem.”
“We don’t want to continue further,” the pilot is heard saying in the same audio clip.

Air India Releases Statement

An Air India Boeing 787 8 Dreamliner plane bound for New Delhi returned to its origin in Hong Kong shortly after takeoff on Monday as a precautionary measure following a suspected technical issue.
The company said in a statement on Monday that flight AI315 returned to Hong Kong because of what it described as “a technical issue” without giving details.
It said the flight landed safely and was undergoing checks “as a matter of abundant precaution.”
AI315 made a return to Hong Kong International Airport after requesting local standby at around 1 p.m. (0500 GMT) and “landed safely at around 1:15 p.m.,” the spokesperson of Airport Authority Hong Kong said.
Air India might take a while to rebuild public trust following a series of safety and production crises.
