In case you’re running to the In-N-Out Burger after learning the secret menu price hack, it’s not gonna work.
The secret strategy that got customers paying less for a Flying Dutchman burger without using its name is effectively removed. This hack allowed customers to order two patties and two slices of cheese separately at a reduced price.
It cost them nearly half the price of the official Flying Dutchman burger, which is not listed on the menu.
However, In-N-Out recently responded to this workaround by changing their pricing structure. According to an internal memo, the price of meat and cheese patties is aligned with the cost of the Flying Dutchman.
I went back to In-N-Out this evening for dinner. I ordered the 4×4 with no bun, but it was rung up as a Flying Dutchman. It was good (even with the grilled onions that I requested not be on it). pic.twitter.com/OJxNRBZT5x

What it means now is, ordering two patties and two slices of cheese will now cost the same as the Flying Dutchman itself, which is $5.50 in California.
While In-N-Out did not officially confirm the memo, reports from various locations, including Glendale, indicate this price has been changed. The only aspect that remains cheap is the price of adding a single patty or cheese slice to an existing burger, which will stay at a lower cost of $1.85.

In-N-Out Burger Increases Price of A Flying Dutchman For Pricing Alignment

While the In-N-Out Burger has taken action against a viral pricing hack, some food lovers might not be as happy.
However, recognizing the discrepancy, In-N-Out’s Chief Operating Officer Denny Warnick issued a memo. He announced a price increase for individual patties and cheese slices to align them with the Flying Dutchman pricing.
The pricing alignment took effect on March 24, 2025.
“Currently, we sell individual meat and cheese patties at the same reduced price that we charge to add an extra patty and slice of cheese to a burger. The new price of meat and cheese patty will be aligned with Flying Dutchman pricing. A meat and cheese patty will be half the price of a Flying Dutchman. Meat and cheese patties that are added to a burger will remain the same reduced price,” the memo confirmed.

Additionally, in anticipation of potential customer pushback, the memo provides instructions for staff on how to explain these changes to customers effectively.
The team at In-N-Out is aware that some fans might be disappointed by these changes. So they’re encouraging staff to be sensitive and understanding during this transition.
