Social media detectives noticed that President Donald Trump inadvertently hit himself with a spit ball during Tuesday night’s joint session of Congress on Tuesday.
Donald Trump addressed the lawmakers on Tuesday, more than a month after he was sworn in for a second presidential term. Among his key points in the speech, he addressed the tariffs and trade war controversy with Canada and Mexico and claimed he’s “working tirelessly to end the savage conflict in Ukraine.”
During the speech, fans noticed a spit ball come out of nowhere and land right on his suit’s left sleeve. Pause the video at the 0:10 mark, and you’ll see the spit ball immediately fly onto the president’s sleeve:

If you slow down the video, it’s pretty evident that the spit ball came from Donald Trump’s own mouth. It’s a natural occurrence, but the timing of it couldn’t be much worse for the 78-year-old. It just had to happen in front of a live television audience.
Trump defeated Democratic nominee and Vice President Kamala Harris in the 2024 presidential election to secure a second term in office. Trump was inaugurated on Jan. 20, becoming the oldest president to assume office at 78 years and 220 days, beating the record previously held by Joe Biden at 78 years and 61 days.

By defeating Harris in the 2024 election, Trump became the second U.S. president in history to serve a second nonconsecutive term. The second was Grover Cleveland, who was in office from 1885 to 1889 and from 1893 to 1897, with Benjamin Harrison serving one term in between Cleveland’s two.
