It’s that time of the year when men and women put their health on the line during the traditional cheese-rolling races in Gloucestershire.
Held on Cooper’s Hill, which has an incredibly steep gradient, the annual event drew thousands of spectators to watch competitors from across the world try and keep their balance to obtain cheese being rolled down the hill.
In the 2025 edition, German YouTuber Tom Kopke clinched his second consecutive victory in the first men’s downhill race.
He was not the story on this day.
One man, who took part in the famous tradition where people chase a wheel of cheese down a hill, appeared to be ahead of the pack before gaining too much speed.
The man, dressed in a cloak and coined himself the ‘Cheese Wizard,’ was seen flying somersaults down the steep descent before he finally landed hard on his back.
Members of the crowd at the event looked on in horror as he landed flat on his back. The cheese-rolling contestant came out just fine despite how terrible it looked.

New footage shows him somehow escaping without breaking any bones and being led away arm-in-arm by paramedics.
“He was dressed as a wizard, and he said his name was Tye,” said one cheese rolling event attendee to the Daily Mail.
“I understand he was in the pub afterward. There were a few people who had to go to the hospital with injuries, but he wasn’t one of them.”
Multiple Cheese rolling Contestants Were Taken To The Hospital

Every year, thrill-seekers from around the globe gather in Gloucestershire, England, to participate in the Cooper’s Hill Cheese-Rolling and Wake.
This eccentric event involves chasing an 8lb wheel of Double Gloucester cheese down a hill, which results in a spectacle of tumbles.
Not everybody walked away okay from this event.
An air ambulance was seen landing in a field nearby, and another contestant was rushed to the hospital after being carried away on a stretcher.
According to the BBC, five land ambulances were sent to the event via the South Western Ambulance Service NHS Foundation Trust, with a spokesperson telling the publication: “We sent five double-crewed land ambulances, an air ambulance, an operations officer, a doctor, a first responder, and the hazardous area response team to the scene.
“We conveyed two patients by land ambulances to Gloucestershire Royal Hospital.”
