Donald Trump has given the United States of America a one-word nickname.
The President has had a busy week, having all but passed his One Big Beautiful Bill Act in Congress. The bill, abbreviated OBBBA, was introduced by Republicans this year and seeks to extend and expand Trump’s 2017 Tax Cuts and Jobs Act. It’s also designed to reshape federal spending, social programs, and immigration enforcement.
The act was amended in the House of Representatives and modified in the Senate with a 51-50 vote, with Vice President J.D. Vancen breaking the deadlock. It’s heading back to the White House for one more vote, which it will get.
As you might imagine, Trump was feeling very pleased this Thursday and took to his Truth Social platform, where he described the U.S. as the “hottest” country in the world. He definitely wasn’t referring to the weather.
“What a great night it was. One of the most consequential Bills ever. The USA is the ‘HOTTEST’ Country in the World, by far!!!” he wrote.

The bill has sparked some controversy, and, given the previous 50-50 split, it was right down the middle as far as reception goes. While it’s been heavily criticized, with Elon Musk’s voice being one of the loudest, OBBBA has also been vaunted as an economic game-changer.
“History loves a bold headline-but the fine print shapes the legacy. Trump’s celebration roars loud, but the bill’s consequences are just beginning to simmer,” someone wrote in the comments.
“BBB is the best bill ever approved. Cry harder, Elon,” said another.
Despite the criticism, the bill is close to becoming law. Soon enough, the country will know whether it is beneficial or damaging.
Either way, America will be hotter for it.
