Social media thought they caught Donald Trump slipping in Saudi Arabia, because he appeared to be sleeping in Saudi Arabia, on live TV.
The President of the United States flew to the Middle East this week for crucial talks with the Saudi government. And he’ll tell you it was a very productive trip.
The countries have agreed to a $600 billion economic partnership, which includes the biggest arms deal in U.S. history, with a $142 billion defense agreement being settled. The understanding also covers energy, technology, mining, and more.
The POTUS looked like he was struggling to stay awake during a live broadcast of the proceedings, closing his eyes for several seconds while on camera, with his mouth curled downward.

The sighting drew a few critical comments, with some users of the view that this was no time for a President to be sleeping.
“Sleepy DonOld. They just roll him out for the photo ops anyway. Stephen Miller has it all covered behind the scenes,” one wrote.

Others defended Trump, noting that he had just taken a long flight and likely didn’t get much sleep the night before.
“It’s difficult to fly east. Takes days to adjust – jet lag,” a user offered.

On a more serious note, America’s new deal with Saudi Arabia has raised questions about Israel’s standing in the region.
The defense deal, in particular, will significantly improve the Saudis’ military capabilities and could tip the scales in their favor when it comes to the balance of power in the Middle East, something we imagine Israeli leaders won’t be too happy about.
