Beyoncé’s significant return to Houston became a moment fans won’t forget, not just because of the music.
During the first night of her Cowboy Carter tour stop at NRG Stadium on Saturday, the hometown icon got stuck mid-air. A red Cadillac she was riding in tilted awkwardly above the crowd during her performance of “16 Carriages.”
The crowd froze. Beyoncé didn’t. Calm and collected, she repeated one word: “Stop.” Fans watched closely as her team worked fast to get her down safely.
The car slowly lowered into the audience area. No one got hurt, and the energy never left the room. Once back on stage, Beyoncé laughed off the scare and said, “If I ever fall, I know y’all will catch me.”

She kept the show moving like nothing happened. After landing safely, she jumped right back into the set, improvising the rest of “16 Carriages” to roaring applause. Fans at the stadium knew they had just witnessed something rare, not just a show, but a real moment.
@abc7la (06/28/25) Frightening moments for superstar #Beyonce at her concert in #Houston Saturday night. Something malfunctioned as she rode in a red Cadillac suspended in the air while performing her song "16 Carriages" during the concert. The car was eventually brought down. #Beyoncé then took the stage, thanking fans for their patience, saying "If ever I fall, I know y'all will catch me." Saturday marked her first Cowboy Carter performance in the South. The tour, which started in Los Angeles on April 28, has already wowed fans across London and Paris. In Paris, Beyoncé surprised the crowd by bringing out Miley Cyrus and Jay-Z on two different nights.
Houston, though, felt different. It was her homecoming. And despite a brief scare in the air, she made sure it stayed unforgettable for the right reasons.
She’s set to perform again at NRG Stadium on June 29 before continuing her nine-city tour across the U.S. and Europe. The final show lands in Las Vegas on July 26.
But in Houston, on that Saturday night, Beyoncé didn’t just sing. She showed grace under pressure. Once again, she reminded everyone why she owned the stage, even when the stage was hanging midair.
★ – During the closing act, the car where Beyoncé performs her final number unexpectedly tilted, leaving her almost sideways and forcing the show to pause. Thankfully, everything turned out fine we hope Beyoncé takes proper precautions moving forward. pic.twitter.com/BHQdasjuhX
