Donald Trump and the White House have sparked widespread outrage following the United States President posting an AI-generated photo of himself dressed as a Pope to his Truth Social platform just days after the death of Pope Francis.
As if that wasn’t shocking enough, the White House’s official X account shared a screenshot of Trump’s post.

Pope Francis died on April 26, with his cause of death understood to be a stroke that followed respiratory issues. He was 88.
His passing marked the second papal death of the century, with Pope John Paul II moving on back in 2005.

Given that just over a week has gone by since Francis’ death, the post has attracted rife backlash as Catholics regard it as insensitive and consider it a mockery of their faith during a time of bereavement.

Some also pointed out that Donald Trump got upset at a fellow leader because he didn’t wear a suit to the White House, but had no problem mocking an entire religion.

Indeed, this is a strange thing for anyone in office to post, let alone the leader of the free world. That the White House endorsed it is even more bizarre. But we have to chalk it up to Trump doing Trump things.
