A UCLA student named Andre Mai went viral online after attending graduation with his laptop and pulling it out to show off his ChatGPT use during the ceremony.
Andre claimed to have used the AI resource to complete his final projects, unashamedly displaying pages of AI-generated text while celebrating wildly.
A video showing the surprising grad celebration immediately began to trend, generating millions of views and thousands of comments on social media. Some people viewed it as a quirky compliment to current technology, while others were critical.

“Wish this s**t was around back when I was in college. Kids today got it too easy,” one user lamented.

The student later claimed on Instagram that the assignment was “open to AI,” so he didn’t break any rules.
Andre Mai’s AI Brag A Sign Of Things To Come?

While this is a bit of a phenomenon, given that college students don’t typically brag about using AI, it could become the norm soon enough, as there will undoubtedly be a shift in academic procedure. Drawing the lines between creativity and the use of tech could prove difficult, however.
As far as graduation stunts go, this has to be in the top five. Pulling out a computer to let everyone know that you didn’t do the heavy lifting on your assignments right before walking across that stage is surely one of the most audacious moves a student could pull off.
It doesn’t appear he’s going to be in any trouble either.
AI is going to be around whether we like it or not. Schools might embrace it to an unexpected degree, based on this alone.
