Brooks Koepka might not have entered this year’s U.S. Open in top form, but he’s never one to be counted out. The five-time major champion knows how to flip the switch on golf’s biggest stages, and this weekend at Oakmont, he may be doing just that, both on and off the course.
Heading into Saturday’s round, Koepka trailed Sam Burns by five shots. A tough second-round 74 erased the momentum of his opening 68, but he remained well within striking distance. As always, Koepka looked focused, but it was a brief moment before tee-off that caught the internet’s attention and had fans buzzing about his chances.
A Look, A Smile, A Viral Moment

Before starting his third round, Koepka shared a glance with a female fan that sent social media into a frenzy. The moment, caught on camera and quickly shared across platforms, showed the LIV Golf star briefly turning his head in the direction of the gallery. Some fans interpreted it as him checking someone out. Others were quick to dismiss the chatter, saying it was nothing more than a casual look.

There’s no evidence Koepka meant anything beyond a glance, and he hasn’t addressed the moment publicly. Still, the viral buzz adds another layer to his already fascinating U.S. Open storyline.
Koepka has admitted that the past couple of months haven’t been smooth. After missing the cut at both the Masters and the PGA Championship, he told NBC Sports he was frustrated and hard to be around. “I’ve apologized to Rick, Pete, Jeff, Blake, my wife, my son—everybody. I wouldn’t have wanted to be around me,” he said.
But after Thursday’s 68, Koepka said things are “starting to click.” Whether he can convert that into another U.S. Open title remains to be seen. What’s certain is that fans are watching closely- some for the golf, others for the moments in between. NBC is airing Saturday’s action live, as Koepka continues his chase for a third U.S. Open crown.
