Tennis star Caroline Wozniacki’s prediction about the 2025 Masters did not age well whatsoever, thanks to Rory McIlroy’s career-defining victory at Augusta.
For those unfamiliar, Wozniacki and Rory McIlroy were in a highly-publicized relationship more than a decade ago. The two got engaged in early 2014, but the golf phenom ended it a few months later.
Caroline Wozniacki, who’s married to former NBA player David Lee, spoke to ESPN during the 2025 Masters weekend. There, she revealed their prediction on who would obtain this ear’s green jacket.
Needless to say, the take did not age well.
“David and I, my husband, we always pick a winner before the tournament starts, Wozniacki said. “We pick one that we think has a big chance of winning, and that was (Ludvig) Aberg.”

Rory McIlroy, of course, went on to win the 2025 Masters by defeating Justin Rose with a birdie in the first playoff hole. The extra hole was needed after a monumental collapse on the back nine by McIlroy, who finished 11-under to send the round to a playoff.

The 25-year-old Ludvig Åberg finished in a tie for seventh at six-under. Patrick Reed was third at nine-under, followed by defending champion Scottie Scheffler (eight-under), Sungjae Im (seven-under) and Bryson DeChambeau (seven-under).
Wozniacki and Lee have two children together and are expecting their third. McIlroy has been married to Erika Stoll since 2017, and they have one child.

With his victory at Augusta, the 35-year-old Rory McIlroy became the sixth male golfer to win each of the four majors (The Masters, PGA Championship, U.S. Open and The Open/British Open).
McIlroy joined a club featuring Tiger Woods, Jack Nicklaus, Gary Player, Gene Sarazen and Ben Hogan. And it was sure a long wait for the Northern Irishman, who hadn’t celebrated a major victory since the 2014 PGA Championship.
