A PGA Tour golfer is in some big trouble after being arrested for allegedly throwing his wife into the wall.
Erik Compton, who has played in two PGA Tour events this year, was reportedly arrested in Florida.
“Authorities arrested PGA Tour golfer Erik Compton on felony and misdemeanor charges after police accused him of committing domestic violence against his wife at their southwest Miami-Dade home over the weekend,” Local 10 in Miami reported.
“Police said the incident happened just after 9:30 Saturday evening at the couple’s home in the 6800 block of Southwest 70th Avenue in the Glenvar Heights area.”
Compton allegedly threw his wife into a wall and her cell phone into their pool during an argument at their house.
Erik Compton is married to Petra Compton.
Compton was diagnosed with viral cardiomyopathy as a child and has undergone two heart transplants, one in 1992 when he was just 12 years old and another in 2008.
The professional golfer has won on the Korn Ferry Tour, Canadian Tour, and former NGA Hooters Tour, but never broke through on the PGA Tour.
In two Tour starts in 2023, he has finished T-29 at the Corales Puntacana Championship and T-63 at the Charles Schwab Challenge.
Who knows what this arrest for domestic violence will do to his career going forward.
