Tiger Woods is facing yet another setback in his storied career. The 15-time major champion announced Tuesday that he ruptured his left Achilles tendon while training at home. He underwent surgery that morning to repair the tendon, leaving his return to competitive golf uncertain.
48-year-old Tiger Woods shared the update on social media, explaining that he felt a sharp pain in his Achilles while ramping up his training. Dr. Charlton Stucken of the Hospital for Special Surgery in West Palm Beach performed a minimally invasive procedure to repair the rupture. “The surgery went smoothly, and we expect a full recovery,” Dr. Stucken stated. Woods added that he is now home focusing on recovery and rehabilitation.

The news has sparked an outpouring of support from fans and the golf community.
One fan commented, “Sorry to hear that, but glad the surgery went smoothly, and full recovery is expected. Praying everything goes well with recovery!”
Another wrote, “Prayers up and speedy recovery, Big Cat.”
“Hope you have a quick recovery” one fan said.

This latest injury adds to Woods’ long history of physical setbacks. He has undergone multiple surgeries in recent years, including a back procedure last September. He had yet to make a PGA Tour start in 2024 but participated in four TGL matches, the simulator-based league he co-founded.
With no official timeline for his return, speculation is growing about whether Woods will compete again this season. Some have compared his injury to Bernhard Langer, who returned from an Achilles tear in just three months. However, given Woods’ extensive medical history, his recovery could take much longer.
For now, all eyes will be on the Masters Champions Dinner next month, where his presence or absence may hint at his recovery progress. As he turns 50 later this year, the question remains: Will Woods make another comeback, or is this the injury that finally keeps him off the course for good?
