Golf fans think that Rory McIlroy was poking fun at Scottie Scheffler with his outfit of choice for round two of the 2025 PGA Championship.
After finally emerging victorious at The Masters last month to complete the golf Grand Slam, McIlroy now has his eyes on a third PGA Championship. He narrowly made the weekend cut, however, scoring one over after day two.
The 2025 PGA Championship is being held at the Quail Hollow Club in Charlotte, North Carolina. 40-year-old Jhonattan Vegas heads into the weekend as the leader at eight under, two ahead of Matt Fitzpatrick, Si Woo Kim and Matthieu Pavon (all six under).
Aside from his frustrating play over the first two rounds, Rory McIlroy also made headlines with his outfit: An orange shirt with white pants.
As Rory McIlroy’s outfit colors resembled those of a traditional prisoner’s jumpsuit, fans wondered if he was taking a shot at Scottie Scheffler. Saturday marks one year since Scheffler was controversially arrested following a traffic incident and misunderstanding while on his way to the Valhalla Golf Club (the site of last year’s PGA Championship).

Scottie Schefler was hit with several charges, including second-degree assault of a police officer and reckless driving. All charges were subsequently dropped.
Rory McIlroy Unlikely To Join Exclusive PGA Champions Club This Year
Rory McIlroy’s awful start over the last two days means it’ll take an all-time miracle (and big-time collapses by several other golfers) for him to win his third PGA Championship. Had he emerged victorious, Rory would have become just the seventh male golfer to win the major seven times.
