Rory McIlroy finally tasted championship victory, but not without his personal life drama stealing the limelight.
Rory finally donned the Green Jacket this year, marking his first win and completing the career Grand Slam that he had been chasing for 11 long years.
This triumph came after a rollercoaster year for him. He saw a brief divorce filing from his wife, Erica Stoll, last May. But only for him to change his mind a month later.
Recently, LPGA star Charley Hull weighed in on all the buzz surrounding McIlroy’s personal life, especially after his amazing victory at the Masters.
Charley, currently ranked No. 10 in the world, shared her thoughts with US Weekly about the intense interest in Rory’s life, both on and off the golf course.
“At the end of the day, what people say about you, whether it’s good or bad, is irrelevant,” she said. “If you’re doing something good, there are always going to be people trying to knock you down.” She added with a smile, “My famous saying is, ‘People’s opinions don’t pay my bills.’ So, I just brush it off.”

After his Masters win, Rory celebrated with Erica and their adorable four-year-old daughter, Poppy, showing a united front at Augusta National.
However, Erica didn’t join them for the celebrations back in Rory’s native Northern Ireland, which sparked some curiosity among fans. Many noticed that during a post-tournament interview, the PGA Tour didn’t mention Erica by name.
Charley also talked about how all the scrutiny surrounding Rory has made her more cautious about her own romantic life.
“I think it’s a good thing to do. It can be hard with my job and everything. In a couple of weeks’ time, he is going to come out for a few days, but that’s about it, really,” she added.
Rory McIlroy Blasted The Rumors Of His Separation From Wife Erica

While he is enjoying his time after his recent victory, Rory McIlroy has only turned heads in the last year.
He filed for divorce just before the PGA Championship, only to backtrack that decision ahead of the US Open.
In a statement to The Guardian, he pointed out how unfortunate it was to have rumors swirling around. But he clarified that both he and Erica had realized they were better off together as a family.
“There have been rumors about my personal life recently, which is unfortunate. Responding to each rumor is a fool’s game. Over the past weeks, Erica and I have realized that our best future was as a family together. Thankfully, we have resolved our differences and look forward to a new beginning,” he said.

Last year might have been filled with personal ups and downs for him, but this year seems to be all about family happiness and golfing success. Erica has been by Rory’s side on the course over the past months, supporting him through his journey.
He even celebrated another victory at the Players Championship in March, with both Erica and Poppy cheering him on.
